Cancer Research Funding

The Irish Cancer Society is the national charity dedicated to cancer prevention, care, research, and education. Irish Cancer Society Research is the research division of the Society. Our primary focus is promoting patient-relevant cancer research. We are the single largest voluntary supporter of cancer research in Ireland.

The following Call is now CLOSED

1. Cancer Survivorship Research Projects

The Irish Cancer Society’s mission as the national cancer charity is to eliminate cancer. The Society’s strategy statement, launched earlier this year, aims to initiate research to inform the Society’s programmes and direction. One of the Society’s targets for 2013-2017 is to instigate research to define and evaluate the factors that affect survivorship in cancer.

The Irish Cancer Society is inviting applications for funding for cancer survivorship research from suitably qualified groups and individuals. The purpose of this grant call is to support excellent, collaborative cancer survivorship research in Ireland with a view to improving the lives of those living with and beyond cancer.

  • Funding up to the value of €300,000 for clearly defined projects from a minimum of 12 months up to a maximum of 36 months will be made available.
  • It is important to note that the budget requested and award duration must reflect the scale and nature of the proposed research

All applications will be assessed on merit and subject to competitive international peer review.

Applications recommended by the Irish Cancer Society’s international peer review panel will be submitted for consideration for joint funding from the Medical Research Charities Group/Health Research Board joint funding scheme. Successful projects will commence in December 2013.
